VersaSlim offers an advantage over traditional methods of weight loss - the possibility of weight loss in a specific area of the body. In other words, instead of exercise reducing overall body fat, Versaslim can reshape individual problem areas.

It's easy - up to four treatment pads containing the laser diodes are placed over the treatment area, secured in place using comfortable, elastic straps. Two other laser pads are positioned onto the region of the lymphatic nodes closest to treatment zone.

Versaslim is amazing technology, not a "magic" machine. It will shrink fat cells away in targeted locations, but it will not "keep" it away permanently. A healthy lifestyle, regular exercise and lots of water is necessary to achieve success on this wonderful journey.

  • How Does It Work?
Hair removal lasers emit a light at a specific wavelength that has been discovered to be absorbed by the pigment (color) in the hair follicle. Once inside the hair follicle, the light is converted to heat energy, which in turns destroys the hair follicle so that it will not produce another hair - all without damaging the surrounding skin. Light-based technology removes hair in three ways: Ruining the follicle by coagulating the melanocyte and matrix cells. Clotting the follicle capillaries with heat energy, which means less food and oxygen to the hair follicle. Triggering matrix cells to operate calcium pumps and exhaust the cell’s energy, resulting in inhibition of the cellular metabolism. Those three processes back up one another, so if one does not provide results, the two others will.
  • Is It Safe?
Laser Hair Removal technology in the hands of doctors and certified technicians is safe. Hair removal is one of the aesthetic medical industry’s most common, well-known and researched uses of lasers and the Sharplight treatment has provided safe and effective permanent hair reduction for thousands of patients worldwide.
  • Am I A Candidate?
You can find this out by coming to LSD - Le Salon Dieppe and having a complimentary consultation. You'll fill out a Fitzpatrick Skin Typing form, which will help your laser technician tell you more about whether laser hair removal is the right hair removal procedure for you. There are six different skin types and while laser hair removal can be done regardless of skin type, some skin types take to this procedure much more readily than others. When it comes to skin types, limitations are minimal. Advancements in laser technology now allow us to safely and effectively treat clients of all skin types to be treated. The lighter the skin tone and darker/coarser the hair, the more energy we can use to treat hair during each session. If your hair is visibly darker than your skin tone, you will generally be a candidate. There are certain medical conditions that may require you to seek your doctors permission before moving forward with treatment.
  • How should I prepare for my Consultation?
Depending on your rate of hair growth, try not to shave a small patch of the are a you would like treated for a few days before your initial consultation. Once you are in the treatment room, your technician will ask you to fill out a medical form and explain everything to you about the laser and what to expect during treatments. A photo of the area will be taken (if this is Brazilian, only the thigh will be in the shot and cleared by you to be filed). If you choose to proceed with a patch test, your technician will use your consultation form to prepare the ideal laser setting on the machine and apply one pulse to your body. Depending on skin type, clearance my take anywhere from 30mins to 48hrs. A patch tests are $20, the full cost of which is deducted from the cost of services once your proceed. *Note: To date, not a single client has performed a patch test without being able to continue with services.
  • What if I want to skip the patch test or not wait the recommend time?
Sorry. Safety first. That is not an option.
  • How do I prepare for each Treatment?
Limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for six weeks before treatment. Discontinuing any of those treatments is best. The laser needs to be able to identify the hair follicle and its bulb, which is temporarily removed during waxing or plucking. During this time, shaving is acceptable. The more you are out of the Sun rays, the better. Tanning of the skin will lessen you results. If you must be in the use, use Sun block in the areas you are treating at all times.
  • Does it Hurt?
Our clients say "No.". Compared to waxing, electrolysis or tweezing.. not at all! Unlike traditional laser systems, our hand piece uses a sapphire crystal has a cooling system that cools to -8 Celsius on contact with the skin, instantly dulling the nerves to the intensity of laser. We want you to feel something, so our settings are set to ensure you feel the sensation of a tiniest "pinch". Pain is subjective however, so if you feel anything other than that, talk to us and we will adjust settings accordingly.
  • Why is laser hair removal so much more expensive than other methods?
A common misconception. It's not expensive. And has reduced in price significantly in the 25 years it has been in existance. There is an up-front investment for a series of laser treatments - but your return on your investment will cover you for years to come. Factor in the value of your personal time. When comparing to repeated, costly, painful and frequent visits to Salons over the years, laser is an incredibly cost effect method of achieving permanent hair removal and permanent hair reduction!
  • Is it Permanent?
Generally speaking, yes. The FDA classifies laser hair removal as permanent reduction. For most people and most skin types, laser hair removal is permanent for all intents and purposes, but there are some cases where not every single hair will be removed and touch-ups may be needed once or twice annually to keep the treated area hairless. In some cases, some hairs may grow back that are too thin and fine to be effectively re-treated with laser. While rare, there are others who for some reason simply do not respond to laser hair removal. There are a number of theories about why this may be the case, but not enough is yet known to provide a definitive answer about why this small number of people fail to respond to laser treatment. Until science makes the next breakthrough, the only %100 truly permanent hair removal method is electrolysis. However, electrolysis has a lot of downsides: each and every follicle needs to be individually shocked. It's a lengthy and very painful process, but in the rare cases where laser hair removal is not effective, it is a final option.
  • How many treatments will I Need?
Typically, 4 to 6 treatments is adequate to provide permanent hair reduction. However, after a one-on-one consultation, your provider may determine that based on the density of your hair, hair color and skin color, you may require additional treatment, or you may be satisfied with less. Your provider will advise you. Note that it is not unusual for some clients to require a touch-up treatment two years after completing laser hair removal treatments.
  • Will my hair ever grow Back?
Actively growing hairs that are treated should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase will need to be treated. It’s also not unusual for patients to have a touch-up two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.
  • Why do I need 4 – 6 Treatments?
Hair growth occurs in 4 stages: Early Anagen (early hair growth), Anagen (active hair growth) Catagen (regression) Telogen (resting, not growing) Laser hair removal only affects the Anagen stage, (actively growing hair). Therefore, approximately twenty-five-percent of hair is removed with each treatment. After 4 to 6 treatments, the area should be free from hair.
  • How long has laser technology been in Use?
The laser was first used in medicine in 1961, nearly 50 years ago. Scientists experimented with laser hair removal for about 20 years before it became commercially available in the mid-1990's. They carefully defined the correct parameters to safely and effectively remove hair without damaging surrounding skin, cells or nerves. Now, with over 25 years of continued development we have access to the newest, most refined and most affordable era of laser technology.
  • Is there any down time for laser hair Removal?
SharpLight treatments have no “down time” and requires no recovery time. You can a treatment and return to work, school or other normal activities immediately. In terms of hair removal, you will notice some hairs falling out during or directly after the treatment. This trend will continue for about 21 days. The hair is dead, but it has not left your body yet. Some clients may experience temporary redness in the area that was treated. If you were exposed to the sun without sunscreen, you may also notice a skin discoloration. Immediately following your treatment, and for two weeks after your session, you should avoid unprotected sun exposure. If you have to go out into the sun, then you will need to apply sunscreen with Zinc, 20 SPF, or higher. Clients obtaining laser hair removal treatments need to refrain from waxing and/or tweezing as a hair removal option. While receiving laser treatments, please shave to remove remaining hair in between laser sessions. Remember, just because you aren’t getting in the sun, doesn’t mean you have to be pale. Try one of your many bronzing lotions available in our boutique. They go on smooth (not streaky or orange) and look great.
  • Can I get laser hair removal treatments while I’m Pregnant?
It is not recommended as there has not been enough research done on the matter. Our facility will not treat any client who is pregnant or who believes they may be with child.
